Losing weight can be hard, but trying to get rid of that stubborn double chin can be especially frustrating. That’s why we offer the quick, effective, and nonsurgical option of Kybella® to thin out that particular problem area.
Dr. Carrie Morris and the rest of our team at Radiance Wellness MediSpa offer a host of treatment options and services to help you feel better in your own skin, including but not limited to Kybella. Take a moment to learn more about what Kybella can do for you.
What Kybella is and how it works
Kybella was approved by the FDA in 2015. The treatment takes only about 15 minutes, and it’s used to minimize the excess fat found underneath the chin that causes the effect of a double chin. The procedure is extremely safe and is much less invasive than other procedures, such as liposuction.
Kybella involves injecting a kind of bile acid into the area under your chin. This substance is synthetic, but it’s mirrored after a substance your body creates naturally to absorb fat. After the acid is injected, it damages the fat cells and keeps them from growing in this area again, so you see a real difference in your double chin.
What to expect from a Kybella treatment
Kybella treatments are fast and effective. In most cases, you will need multiple procedures to get the best results, up to six procedures, with a month in between each for recuperation. The treatment requires 20 to 50 injections into the chin area, but you will be numbed with the use of a medical cream, so you won’t experience any kind of severe pain.
You may experience some side effects, but in most cases, they’re very mild and simply include bruising, swelling, redness, and pain at the injection site. You will likely begin to see visible results of the Kybella treatment after two procedures, but the majority of cases (59%) require six for full effects.
The best candidates for Kybella
Pretty much anyone can be a good candidate for this treatment. If you notice that your double chin makes you feel self-conscious or that it’s the last remaining area of stubborn fat you seem unable to lose, Kybella could be a great option for you. Men and women can both benefit from Kybella.
If you have ever had any problems swallowing, a history of bleeding, or if you’re nursing or pregnant, Dr. Morris will need to know, but generally, most people have a positive reaction to this treatment, which is minimally invasive, nonsurgical, and causes few to no side effects.
