What is a neck lift?

A neck lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that tightens the skin around your neck. A neck lift can be referred to as cervicoplasty, which removes excess skin, or platysmaplasty, which tightens loose neck muscles.

Together, these procedures can give you a smoother, firmer, and better-defined appearance. Your surgeon at Radiance Wellness MediSpa can discuss which, or both, of these procedures is right for you.

What happens during a neck lift?

During your neck lift, your surgeon at Radiance Wellness MediSpa makes an incision in your neck. Traditionally, the incision starts at your hairline by your sideburn and goes around the back of the ear to the nape of your neck.

If you have a lot of fat in the area, your surgeon may choose to remove some of it at this time. Then, your surgeon tightens and cuts away the excess skin before suturing the incision closed.

How can a neck lift change my appearance?

Many glaring signs of aging appear on your neck. With a neck lift, you can:

  • Reduce sagging skin
  • Reduce excess fat
  • Have a more defined jawline
  • Restore balance to your facial features
  • Look years younger

The results of your neck lift aren’t completely permanent, but they can last for up to 10 years with the proper care.

You should care for your wounds after surgery exactly as your surgeon instructs you and avoid direct sunlight, rigorous exercises, and using certain products while they heal.

Am I a good candidate for a neck lift?

Before you can go forward with a neck lift, your Radiance Wellness MediSpa surgeon asks you about your medical history, lifestyle, and treatment goals during a consultation. You might be a good candidate for the procedure if:

  • You don’t smoke
  • You’re generally healthy
  • You have good bone structure
  • Your skin stretches easily
  • You have reasonable and realistic expectations

Before making your neck lift appointment, your surgeon makes sure that you’re aware of the risks associated with these and other surgeries. You must be able to tolerate anesthesia well and be prepared to take on the aftercare that the surgery requires.

If you’re interested in a neck lift to make you look younger, don’t hesitate to call Radiance Wellness MediSpa or book an appointment online to get one step closer to the new you.
