There’s no getting away from skin laxity as you get older. While the rate of progression is different for everyone, there can come a point where loss of elasticity permits sagging that isn’t graceful or flattering.

These effects can strike all over your face, from eyelids to jowls. For some, a drooping of the eyebrows and forehead can create an artificial expression that makes you look sad, tired, or angry. If that sounds like you, it may be time for you to consider a brow lift

Radiance Wellness MediSpa specializes in medical aesthetics, including several procedures designed to restore brow positioning. Dr. Carrie L. Morris is specifically trained in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery and is an expert in any restorative procedure around your eyes and face. Brow lift procedures are generally well tolerated, so there’s a good chance you’re a suitable candidate.

Brow lift targets

A brow lift may have one or more of several goals, depending on your needs. The procedure can:

  • Raise sagging eyebrows, particularly when they cause hooding of the upper eyelids
  • Restore an alert and youthful profile to the eyebrows
  • Reduce the appearance of horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and bridge of the nose
  • Improve the appearance of vertical worry lines between the eyebrows

A brow lift is typically easy to combine with other cosmetic surgeries, such as laser resurfacing, facelifts, and upper eyelid blepharoplasty and lower eyelid blepharoplasty

Procedure approaches

Your treatment goals often suggest the best approach for your brow lift to minimize post-procedure scarring as well as creating the corrective effects desired.

Endoscopic brow lift

Incisions well behind your hairline are possible when using endoscopic surgical techniques. Dr. Morris uses medical imaging to perform work beneath the skin using special instruments.

Temporal brow lift

Also an endoscopic procedure and therefore permitting fast recovery times and minimal scars, a temporal or lateral approach is perhaps best described as a partial brow lift. It’s well suited for patients who don’t require a full endoscopic lift.

Eyebrow pexy

Often performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty, the eyebrow pexy creates less dramatic changes than the endoscopic procedures, which may not be necessary for some patients.

Direct brow lift

In some situations, a patient may benefit from work on the eyebrows alone. A direct brow lift uses incisions at the brows rather than behind the hairline.

Am I a good candidate for a brow lift?

If your aesthetic goals are in line with the scope of one of the above approaches and you’re in good overall health, you’re likely a candidate for a brow lift. Procedures are done on an outpatient basis, and the length of your surgery depends on the amount of work being done.

Brow lifts generally don’t cause much pain. You’re more likely to experience a feeling of tightness and minor discomfort. There will be swelling and bruising after your procedure, but this is usually gone in about 10 days to two weeks.

A brow lift assessment and consultation can give you a better idea of how you can benefit. You can contact Radiance Wellness MediSpa by phone or online at the most convenient location to schedule your appointment with Dr. Morris today.
